To
support the Naval Oceanographic Office, C&M designed,
developed and fabricated three mini-MAVA systems. The
mini-MAVA systems consists of an underwater unit and
a deck unit. The underwater unit has a hydrophone array
containing eight hydrophones and a pressure transducer,
a float, two acoustically activated releases and a pressure
vessel. The pressure vessel contains the electronics
and a battery power supply necessary to record the hydrophone
data for a minimum of 24 hours. In addition to the design,
development and fabrication, C&M also developed
drawings, operations manuals and a training program
for maintenance and repair of the equipment.
